crooton are working with a market-leading windows, doors and conservatories firm in Yorkshire who are looking to recruit a Building Material Purchaser to join the team on a full-time basis based in Bradford.
This company leads the way in home improvement design and installation, having built a strong background with over 32 years’ experience installing conservatories, orangeries, extensions, windows, doors, and rooflines. They pride themselves on high-quality customer service of bespoke designs, truly suiting to the clients’ needs.
Location-Bradford
Salary-£26,000 depending on experience
Hours of work-Monday to Friday 07.00am to 16.30pm
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing of building materials for construction projects, including identifying suppliers, negotiating prices and ensuring timely delivery.
Key responsibilities of a Building Material Purchaser will include:
Negotiating with suppliers to ensure you purchase materials at a competitive price
Set up and manage a material database detailing costs and products to be used as a reference point for future orders
Maintain a diary system and cross-referencing processes to keep track of bookings and changes to planned arrangements
Day to day liaising with Builders and Installers to order materials required.
You will be in regular contact with customers and suppliers and therefore you play a huge part in delivering a fantastic customer experience
Develop great relationships with new and existing Suppliers and customers, understanding their needs, and providing proactive advice and solutions so that you can deliver the best experience possible
Use in-house systems to process customer orders, organise delivery times, and keep customers updated throughout their journey
Work with colleagues to suggest opportunities for improvement
Providing admin support to the department’s additional requirements
Skills and experience required:
Experience of working within a Builders Merchants
A good understanding of the construction industry would be extremely beneficial
Good negotiation skills
Passion for delivering great customer service
Strong administration skills
Able to work well under pressure
Good organisational skills
Computer literate – Microsoft Word/Excel
Ideally have a good understanding of Sage software system but not essential
