Home-Start Kirklees has two staff vacancies open for recruitment. This employment is for a limited fixed term period of up to 36 months (3 years) as it is specifically linked to external funding and will therefore cease on cessation of the funding.

Home-Start Kirklees is a family support charity, helping families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them. We help families with isolation, bereavement, mental health issues, financial insecurity and many more. Our local network of trained volunteers and paid expert staff help families with young children throughout their toughest times. Our vision is to be a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best start in life. We have just been awarded a National Lottery Community Fund grant for 3 years to deliver an exciting new project starting January 2023.

We are currently recruiting for:

37 hours per week – annual salary scale SCP 14 – 21 (£23,080 – £26,511) pro rata, increasing to SCP 15 at the end of a satisfactory probationary period).

Group Worker

37 hours per week – annual salary scale SCP 7-11 (£20,092 – £22,129) pro rata, increasing to SCP 8 at the end of a satisfactory probationary period).

Please note these are NJC scales dated April 2021. Any uplift confirmed for workers will be added accordingly.

We have two vacant posts available for a full-time Group Co-ordinator and Group Worker, who will assist in assessing the needs of families and supporting and supervising group volunteers. The post holders will be responsible for the organisation and running of parent peer support group sessions across Kirklees. You will need to liaise closely with various statutory and voluntary organisations. Both positions will report to the Senior Group Co-ordinator and Senior Management Team.

 Essential requirements include:

Experience of caring for young children

Experience of working with families and/or volunteers

Ability to support the progression of group volunteers

Ability to work as part of a team with supervisory support

Understand confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace

Car driver/owner (expenses will be paid)

Experience of working with vulnerable groups and ensuring safeguarding practice is embedded and adhered to

Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check at enhanced level and the receipt of appropriate references.
