Colne Valley High School Higher Level Teaching Assistant Permanent Contract, 37 hours per week Term Time plus 5 days To start ASAP Salary – £23,334 per annum (FTE £26,854) We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and inspiring Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to support students learning by providing specialist assistance to students with identified learning needs. The HLTA will assist the SENDCo in assessing, monitoring and evaluating the progress of students with learning needs. The purpose of the role is to work collaboratively with the SENDCo in delivering timely and well-informed research-based intervention to small groups in the schools learning support room. To work independently and collaboratively with teaching staff including evaluating and adjusting provision in response to students needs. To provide support for students individually or in small groups in order to raise standards of achievement by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when delivering, monitoring and assessing students with identified learning needs. To encourage students to develop their confidence and independence as learners, to support their welfare and inclusion in all aspects of school life. Responsibilities: Support for students and their learning Plan, prepare and deliver learning to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities to advance students learning Assess, record and report on students development, progress and attainment, using this knowledge and understanding to extend students learning Work collaboratively with staff and other relevant professionals, providing information about students as appropriate Understand specific learning needs using teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate and differentiate provision Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support and advance students learning. Establish positive relationships with students, implementing strategies to support them in the learning, following up and evaluating the impact of that support. Plan and implement strategies to support students in their academic and social development to promote their wellbeing. Provide support to students in specialist areas of learning for example students with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties. To contribute to assessments of students, as directed by the class teacher or SENCo. To take an active role in assessing and analysing progress data as well as participating in student progress meetings and the creation of individual education plans (IEPs) or Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) as appropriate To attend relevant weekly staff meetings and department meetings, whole school staff INSET and other professional development events as requested by the SENCo or Senior Management Team.
