HOYER has at its disposal about 2,200 trucks, 2,600 road tankers, 50,100 IBCs, 37,600 tank containers and numerous logistics installations with depots, cleaning plants and workshops. Summary of Role: Reporting to the Head of Resource, the Fleet Resource Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the correct level of vehicle resources are in place at all terminals in their region, and providing the resource managers, controllers and planning team with up to date information regarding the availability of vehicles. Hours of work: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week) with one hours unpaid lunch break per day. This also involves rostered weekend working, including one weekend in ten (days given back in lieu). Job Responsibilities: * Maintain short, medium and long term awareness of the fleet resource requirements in your region * Liaise with the appropriate planners on a daily basis in order to flex resources up and down in order to maximise efficiency whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer service * Authorise all drivers holiday and other absence requests. * Working 4 weeks in advance, ensure that any driver resource shortfalls are covered in the first instance through local overtime, then through cross-contracting, then through booking agency resource. * Where necessary, engage with clients in order to provide updates on upcoming resource provision. * Develop strong working relationships with planners and drivers in order to maximise the benefit of those relationships. * Engage regularly throughout the day with the vehicle workshops to maintain an understanding of vehicle availability and return times. * Instruct workshops on which vehicles are priority repairs in order to maintain customer service levels. Escalate issues to Fleet Engineers or the MCC where necessary. * Identify and arrange for temporary vehicle moves between locations if the VOR position at an individual location warrants it. * Through cooperation with the Fleet Admin team ensure that planned driver and vehicle resource patterns align (i.e. services should be aligned to the shifts with the fewest drivers) * Develop strong working relationships with workshops, Fleet Engineers and the HCC/MCC teams in order to maximise the benefit of those relationships. * Act as duty manager on a rota basis with full responsibility for managing operational issues that occur during this time. This includes dealing with incidents on a desktop basis where possible, and resolving resource shortfalls.
