Senior Planner – COSTAIN GROUP PLC – Huddersfield


Scheme Overview

Working as part of the smart motorway alliance, Costain have been awarded the DHS Enhancement scheme on M62 J25-30. This involves upgrading of the central reserve, verge technology and additional emergency areas to verges. The role is to be predominantly site based at our compound in Huddersfield.

• To prepare weekly reports on programme and progress, providing input into the monthly programme submissions

• Update progress and production of variance reports as required including critical path and earned value analysis

• Assist in the management of change in regards of impact on programmes and progress

• To prepare comprehensive site layout sequences, and presentations as necessary

• Working collaboratively with the delivery team in the production and reporting of the programme and maintaining a good working relationship with them

• Running collaborative planning workshops

The project primarily uses 3 software packages:

– Primavera P6 – experience essential

– TILOS – experience desirable

– Aphex Planner (for short term stage planning)


• Excellent P6 skills including resourcing and cost loading

• Knowledge of NEC 4 Contracts

• Experience of working closely with supply chain

• Ability to work consistently to deadlines

• Excellent monitoring and reporting skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Adapts well to a changing environment

• Demonstrates required behaviours to align to project and team objectives

• Champions and develops collaborative behaviours


• An engineering / site based background

• Experience of TILOS

• HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering

• CSCS Managers Card or similar level
