Shared Lives Plus are a national organisation of localised schemes working with self-employed, approved carers to provide care and support for adults and young people age 16+ within the carers own home.

This can be in a long-term arrangement, for short breaks or day support. Shared lives Scheme in Kirklees is run by the local authority. The Scheme is registered with CQC to provide regulated activities.

At times challenging conversations are important to have, we are looking for someone who is confident to ask questions and actively listen to answers. Good problem-solving skills and ability to enthuse and empower others are qualities we are seeking in a team member.

The team works in a flexible way to be responsive to carers circumstances – this can mean that the role is not 9 to 5 with evening visits and supporting recruitment events at the weekend being an expectation – However this is not every week and is a shared responsibility within the team. Getting involved with the networking and social side of the scheme is an importing element for building trust and rapport with the carers and service users.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence, and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car. Exceptions can be made for disabled applicants.
