Milk Education are seeking to appoint dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Support Assistant to work with pupils who have SEND, complex learning and physical difficulties.
The SEND Support Assistant role will be based in a Secondary schools in Kirklees. Previous experience working with children or young people with learning difficulties or within the Health and Social Care sector would be beneficial, however, the most important attribute is the willingness to get involved and be proactive.
The successful candidate to be a SEND Support Assistant will be expected to undertake all activities as required during their time at the school and be able to work as part of a team as well as being able to use initiative.
If successful as a SEND Support Assistant, you will work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff to support access to learning and provide support. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the normal teaching area.
What you need to apply to be a SEND Support Assistant:
Previous experience working with children, or young adults, with ASD and complex needs (Voluntary welcome)
Confidence dealing with pupils with different abilities and SEND requirements
A good knowledge of the National Curriculum or be confident in supporting with particular subjects is desirable
Good interpersonal and communicational skills
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to complete this)
Enthusiastic attitude towards inspiring children

Extra 1:1 support may include
Medical Health Care Plans
Handwriting /fine motor/keyboard skills training
Group discussions and information given from our qualified school nurse
Familiarity with assistive technology (wheelchair)
Access to teaching assistant support
A willingness to support with personal care, although this may not be required
First Aid Training within the last two years is essential, although Epilepsy training would be beneficial
