Our very well established Huddersfield based client is looking for a temporary Logistics Manager to start asap until the 3rd of March 2023.
You will be responsible for the movement of finished goods and the management of the goods out and logistics department as well as overseeing the shipping operations and warehousing – ensuring that customers receive their finished products on time. You will have excellent organisation skills, an excellent understanding of logistics, the order cycle, and warehousing procedures. You will also have very strong man management skills; however, the team is very established and requires only day to day supervision.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Directly manage and support the logistics team
Planning and overseeing incoming and outgoing deliveries
Negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers
Enforcing company policies and procedures
Checking the system daily to ensure orders are despatched on time
Assisting with transport bookings and the communication with transport partners
Communicating with all departments in internal meetings
Ensuring orders are advanced invoiced if collections are delayed
Managing the HR system for the logistics department on a daily basis – monitoring team attendance and time keeping
Managing and progressing quality improvement entries, ensuring remedial action is taken and communicating with relevant departments
Resolving complaints and managing claims (if necessary) with suppliers
Email management – direct and shared inboxes
Managing the approval process of transport booking invoices
Supporting the daily stocktake process
Skills and experience:
You will have proven experience in logistics management and supply chain management
Also have proficiency in logistics and inventory management software
Have excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes
Leadership and business management skills
Ability to work well with others and have a strong attention to detail
Our client offers a very friendly working environment, free onsite parking and kitchen facilities.
The hours of work are 8 hours per day with a 30 minute unpaid break and the daily hours are 8.30am – 4.30pm.
